What’s Good:
Director Venky Kudumula once again proves his skill in blending comedy with emotions. Like his previous films, he adds his signature fun touch to Robinhood. His writing is sharp, and the movie’s first half is full of laugh-out-loud moments. The emotional scenes in the second half are well-handled, giving the story some depth.
Nithiin delivers a charming and balanced performance. His action scenes, comic timing, and emotional expressions are impressive. His chemistry with Sreeleela and Rajendra Prasad brings fun moments to the screen.
Sreeleela also does well in her role and entertains the audience with her natural performance and comic timing.
The main villain, Devadatta Nage, gives a solid and powerful performance. He looks convincing in his negative role. Supporting actors like Subhaleka Sudhakar and Lal deliver strong emotional scenes.
Vennela Kishore’s comedy works well and keeps the audience entertained.
A special mention goes to David Warner, who surprises everyone with his ease of acting and light, negative shade.
What Could Have Been Better
While the film is entertaining, the story could have been more gripping. The first half is engaging and fun, but the pace slows down in the second half. Some characters are missing for long periods, affecting the flow of the story.
The villain, who starts off strong, becomes less impactful by the climax. The humour also dips in the latter part of the film.
Additionally, although catchy, two songs in the movie break the story’s flow and feel unnecessary. Removing these songs and tightening the screenplay would have made the movie even better.
Technical Aspects
The production quality of Robinhood is decent. However, the VFX work could have been better. In some scenes, like a bloodstain on Nithiin’s face, the visual effects look artificial.
- V. Prakash’s music supports the film well, and the cinematography is good. However, the editing could have been sharper, as some unnecessary songs slow down the pace.
Director Venky Kudumula excels at storytelling, comedy, and action sequences. His attention to detail is good, though some parts of the plot feel predictable, especially the drug mafia angle. Still, the emotional connection and the lead character’s motive are well-executed.
Final Verdict
Overall, Robin Hood is a fun, light-hearted movie with comedy, action, and emotions. Venky Kudumula’s direction and good performances from Nithiin, Sreeleela, and Devadatta Nage make it a decent entertainer.
Though a tighter screenplay and stronger second half could have improved it, it is still an enjoyable option for audiences looking for a fun weekend watch.
